December 2014 walks, cycle and Christmas Party

Christmas Ride & Lunch

Wednesday 17th December 2014

Cyclists: Stephen & Kaye Clarke (leaders)

On a superb summer morning, clouds and light winds, werode round part of Westerfolds Park into Candlebark Park and across the Yarra into Lower Eltham Park. From there we wound our way via Barak Bushland to the Alistair Knox Park. At Shillinglaw Cottage we stopped for morning coffee and met up with Gillian and Audrey. Then we rode back by a slightly different route through the same parks. Thank you to the Clarkes for a short but scenic ride of 20 km.

Back at our starting place we met up with all the walkers for lunch – a very friendly gathering enjoyed by all.

Christmas & summer break-up dinner party

Thursday December 19, 2013

Sixty One  walkers braved the  very hot day 40 Deg. to attend the Annual Bushwalking Dinner.  For one moment when we walked in and found the room already set up we panicked and thought the room had been double booked, but not so, the Club who had had a luncheon there had left it all for us.  Many thanks to them.

A great evening of fun and catching up with other walkers was had by all.  So many of us don't see each other as we walk different walks through the year. Lovely to see Sue Mackay in her moon boot decorated in glitter, also lots of others had joined the spirit adorned with decorations.

Prizes were awarded to  1. The walker who had walked the most times this year  Ritchie Mitchell ( an amazing 55)  2. The new member who walked the most Marianne Peterson (12)   3. There was a 3 way tie for the most active  leader between Peter Osborne, Chris & Heather Close, and  Doris Beerman, but the major prize was given to Doris as she had walked more than the others.

A most enjoyable evening once again - a great success.
Thank you to the Committee who make it all happen.
